One Watford
The Chamber represents the local business community through ‘One Watford’ which is chaired by Dorothy Thornhill, Elected Mayor of Watford. Through free help and advice, we are working to help local businesses reduce their carbon footprint and have recently launched the One Watford Green Business Pledge. There are three categories that local companies can sign up under Gold, Silver and Bronze. Over 50 companies have already signed up and we are looking to recruit 100 companies by the end of the year.
Those companies who have signed up to the One Watford Green Business Pledge receive a monthly newsletter giving details of energy saving measures. They also have the opportunity to have completely free of charge through Businesslink a two hour sustainability review concluding with an action plan to help them reduce their carbon footprint.
A visit for members took place in July to Renewable Energy Systems in Kings Langley to see at first hand the steps that they have taken to become greener including being self sufficient in heat and power, and supporting staff to reduce their environmental impact.
A further visit is planned in October this time to the Building Research Establishment in Garston. The visit will include a tour of the Innovation Park which is designed to show visitors some of the exciting developments to help the construction industry meet the challenges of the sustainability agenda.
For further information about the One Watford Green Business Pledge and the free sustainability review which is available please contact Roger Gagan at the Chamber.
Part of the ‘One Watford’ remit includes the Chamber working with our members to improve the image of our town. An extensive advertising campaign is due to take place later in the year so please do keep an eye out for it and let us know what you think.
