Details of the Event

In an ever-increasing world of remote working and a reliance on digital technology, Watford Council is committed to developing and growing local businesses by helping people adapt, change, and thrive in revolutionised and modern workplaces.

The scope of the programme includes specialist skills training workshops/webinars and confidential 1-2-1 business advice sessions with an expert advisor to help you identify and overcome key challenges, and grow your business.

Workshop Overview

Data protection regulation has been in place in the UK since 1988, however it was often overlooked by businesses. In May 2016 GDPR came into force, swiftly followed in early 2017 by the ePrivacy regulations (PECR).

We all remember the crazy period in early 2018, as GDPR became enforceable, when our inboxes were full of emails checking consent, which combined with reports of very large fines created stress and anxiety.

GDPR is so much more than just an inbox full of emails and if your processes are developed and managed with data protection at the forefront of your mind then compliance is not so complex.

Why you should attend:

Understanding the key principles, individuals’ rights and your responsibilities are pivotal to designing compliant business operations. This will be a simple, straightforward explanation of the key elements you need to support compliance in your business. An understanding of the benefits of achieving good data management practices, along with demonstrating good data practices as an essential part of the tendering process.

Expected Outcomes:

  • Learn about the 10 key steps required to achieve compliance
  • Know the principles, rights, and your responsibilities
  • Understand how compliance will support your tender applications
  • Identify key data protection terminology
  • Guidance on best practices to support compliance
